Rare Bird Alert for an IVORY GULL in Abbotsford, and out of town for a
ROSS'S GULL near Vanderhoof (west of Prince George).


Sightings for Saturday, November 10th

An adult IVORY GULL was found on the Matsqui Flats just east of Hwy 11
(Abbotsford-Mission Hwy) in a large flock of gulls and crows on a
farm field. (to get there, take Hwy 1 east, head north on Hwy 11,
turn left on Harris Rd., right on Riverside, follow Riverside under
Hwy 11 and turn right on to Page Rd. The flock was on the south side
of Page about 200 metres east of the intersection with Sim Rd.)

Out of town, an adult ROSS'S GULL was found on Tachick Lake, southwest
of Vanderhoof. The gull was viewed from the Tachick Lake Resort (to
get there, follow signs to the Kenney Dam via Kenney Dam Rd. Shortly
after the road turns to gravel, watch for the sign to Tachick Lake
Resort which is on Tachick Lake Rd)

At Serpentine Fen in Surrey, the GREAT EGRET continues and has been
reported on an almost daily basis since Oct 28th. It is being seen
most often in the pond nearest to the King George Highway (Hwy 99A).

A PRAIRIE FALCON was reported from east of 72nd St in Delta, and out toward
Mud Bay.


No sightings reported for November 8th or 9th

A PRAIRIE FALCON was seen from Elgin Heritage Park in Surrey.


Sightings for Tuesday, November 6th


5 SNOW BUNTINGS were at the tip of the Iona Island South Jetty in Richmond.


Sightings for Monday, November 5th

43 BRANT were near the Beach Grove Lagoon, seen from the pump house
at Centennial Beach Park in Delta.

The White Rock Pier in White Rock produced a male REDHEAD.


Sightings for Sunday, November 4th

A TROPICAL KINGBIRD was seen and heard at Martindale Flats near Victoria
today. The bird was in the trees and shrubs behind the houses on Mallard
Ave, best viewed from the Martindale Road side for most of the afternoon,
but at the end of the day was in the front yards of the houses on Mallard.

A HOODED WARBLER was seen behind the John Hart Generating Station on the
Canyon View Trail in Campbell River at ~10:30 AM.

At Serpentine Fen in Surrey, the GREAT EGRET continues and has been
reported on an almost daily basis since Oct 28th. It is being seen
in the pond nearest to the King George Highway (Hwy 99A).

200 ANCIENT MURRELETS as well as 6 MARBLED MURRELETS, 75 COMMON
MURRES and 25 PIGEON GUILLEMOTS were seen at Lighthouse Marine Park
in Point Roberts, Washington. This is a record high one-day count
of Ancient Murrelets in our area.

2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were along Highway 10, halfway between 96th St
and 104th St in Delta


Sightings for Saturday, November 3rd

Well over 100 ANCIENT MURRELETS and 20 MARBLED MURRELETS were seen
from Lighthouse Marine Park at Point Roberts, WA.

At Blackie Spit in Surrey, a LONG-BILLED CURLEW, 3 MARBLED GODWITS,
and 6 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen.


Sightings for Friday, November 2nd

A GYRFALCON was observed in flight near 64th St at 36th Ave in
Delta, heading towards 72nd St.

A COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta.


Sightings for Thursday, November 1st

An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta.
