Subject: [Tweeters] Lyle Christmas Bird Count notice

Folks,

The 10th Official Lyle Christmas Bird Count will be held Sunday,
December 16th. This year's count is once again sponsored by Friends
of the Columbia Gorge, the Columbia Land Trust, and Klickitat Canyon
Winery, so there will be no participation fee and plenty of
sulfite-free, naturally fermented wine at the compilation dinner.

There are hopes that we will have a very high Lewis's woodpecker
count, given the exceptional acorn crop, but there may be a lag
between great acorn harvests and the return of Lewis's woodpeckers
after meager acorn years. We will see.

If you are interested in participating in this "south of the border"
count, which sometimes includes blue skies and mild temperatures,
contact me by e-mail or telephone ( 509.637.2736) as soon as
possible ( at least one week in advance is appreciated), so that we
can line up sector leaders with teams.

What a great way to wind up a calendar year of birding, regardless in
which Christmas Bird Counts you participate,
Bob Hansen
