For those interested, the A2300 Weyerhaeuser logging road off the end of Newman Creek Road just outside of Elma is open again. I'm not sure how long it has been open, but I will be checking it regularly now in case it closes again. The best time to try for the quail is at first light. Extended buck season is this coming weekend, but after that you should be free from big game hunters.

Also, this late afternoon I had my second sighting of a partially albino Canada Goose in the Brady Loop area. Today it was in the field on the southern end of Foster Road. This goose is almost totally white on one side of its body with some white extending up into its neck.

With the added water from the storm yesterday, I found 2 separate flocks of wintering Black-bellied Plovers with one on the west end of Wenzel Slough Road and the other with the geese on Foster Road. Six Dunlin were with the plovers on Wenzel Slough Road. No swans as of yet.
