This morning I went out and tried to bolster my Lewis county list. I visited the Centralia Steam Plant area and then took the backroads back to Centralia where I visited Fort Borst park and Goodrich Road.

At the Steam Plant, on one of the sediment ponds beyond the plant, I found a lone male Canvasback. Several Northern Harriers and Red-tailed Hawks were hunting the valley here as well. Goose hunters had a big flock of Cackling Geese in the air often. Also, I spotted a Merlin on top of a fir tree just before the Steam Plant.

At Fort Borst park in Centralia, I scanned the gulls by the pond and found two Herring Gulls. Along Goodrich road, it was raining very hard and the only highlight I had was a Ring-necked Pheasant that walked across the road in front of me. A large flock of mainly Glaucous-winged and hybrid gulls was hanging out on the northern end of Wagner Road. The Goodrich pond at the end of the road is still showing no water.
