I walked the trail at Chehalis River Discovery Trail located at the end
of Goodrich Rd. in Centralia this afternoon and found some nice birds
today. In the NW corner of the corn stubble field there were about 1500+
Canada and Cackler Geese and in the mix were about 75 to 100 Snow Geese.
That's the most Snow Geese I've ever seen down this way. Last year I had
around 25. Note: you cannot see the geese from the parking lot unless
they fly up. It's best to walk out on the trail and take the northern trail.
Also I had;
8 Mourning Doves
1 California Gull (most of the gulls were Glaucous-winged / Hybrids as
Tim O'Brien had posted yesterday)
1 Northern Harrier
2 Red-tailed Hawks
2 Bald Eagles
2 American Kestrels
1 Peregrine Falcon (hunting the southern most fields. Tim O'Brien had
this falcon 1 week ago I believe. So it will probably be hanging around
for awhile)
2 Downy Woodpeckers
2 Scrub Jays
15 Golden-crowned Sparrows
1 Fox Sparrow
1 Lincoln Sparrow

In the slough along Goodrich Rd. there were;
Wood Ducks
American Wigeons
Northern Shovelers
Green-winged Teal
Ring-necked Ducks
Buffleheads
