Subject: [Tweeters] Green streak on head of Eurasian Wigeon

Hello Brendan and Tweeters,
A few years ago at the Sayers Pits along Lake Washington I saw a
Eurasian Wigeon in bright sunlight with a green area behind his eye. Via
Tweeters, I was referred to the book ?Waterfowl? by the British birders
Steve Madge and Hilary Burn (1988). They state that the adult breeding male
Eurasian Wigeon has ?usually a small green patch behind the eye?. This
suggests that you got a good well-lit look at the Eurasian male rather than
a hybrid.

Subject: [Tweeters] Fwd: eBird Report - Montlake Fill , 11/21/07
Hi tweeters,
today my brother and I went to the fill (UBNA) and saw the following birds.
our first highlight was a bright male Eurasian Wigeon. there was a small
streak of green were it should have been on a american wigeon which suggests
a hybrid (I think). our other star bird was a juvenile Long-billed
Dowitcher. there were LOTS of ducks out in union bay. we were suprised by
the lack of great blue herons. usually we see more than one. it was great to
be out there on such a beutiful day.
