Two birders I hugely respect, Charlie Wright and Michael Hobbes, have both
now identified my mystery bird as a RUFF. I suggest anyone who needs one of
these should try visiting Brady's Oysters between Westport and Aberdeen at
high tide! Charlie recalls this as the third Washington record of a ruff
associating with rockbirds.
