I seem to recall reading (elsewhere) that one of the problems
that utility companies in Florida have had with these nests is
that certain human individuals, with perhaps more zeal and
entrepreneurship than brains, have been electrocuted when
climbing power poles to capture monk parakeets from their
nests to sell in the pet trade. It may be worthwhile to remember
that people will figure out a way to make a buck off of anything.
