as I read this thread, I wonder:
without passing any judgment on the parakeets, how long after the first
starlings were released in NYC did it take for the pernicious effects of
that decision to became clear?
what is the factual basis for the judgment that the PUD did not consider
and analyze the alternatives that can be identified by an internet
search? and what is the basis for judging that just because an
alternative can be identified, that it is at least equally appropriate
and implementable in a given circumstance?

and yes, I do have a bias in this, I have lived in several countries and
several parts of the U.S. I hope that the different biological
characters of those places will not become so homoginized that the
natural identities are lost. my own life list includes rock pigeons &
house sparrows on 5 of the 7 continents -- I have not been to Africa or
Antarctica, tho I expect they are not found on the latter, at least
until things get a lot warmer there.
