At around noon today I found a YELLOW-BILLED LOON in the waters adjacent to Twanoh State Park on the Hood Canal near Belfair. It stayed in the same place, about mid-canal straight north of the point, for a long time. I watched it primp itself with its big yellowish-white bill for a good 15 minutes. Then the smell of rotting salmon got to me and I had to leave.
