On the "blood pond" on Dodd Road today were a few nice shorebirds being
chased first by a Merlin then by a Sharp-shinned Hawk - had to sit for an
hour and wait for the birds to settle:
Am. Golden Plover - 1
Black-bellied Plover - 6
Pectoral Sandpiper - 4
Long-billed Dowitcher - 32
Killdeer - 75+
also"
Yellow-headed Blackbird - 3 in among many Redwing BB's.
Am. Pipit - 100+
Starling numbers are huge this fall - clouds of them over the feedlots.

Detour/McDonald road west of Walla Walla:
Black-necked Stilt - 1 - getting late
Pectoral Sandpipers - 8 there with the stilt yesterday but none today - this
is the flooded field where we have had Sharp-tailed in the past.

Walla Walla river delta yesterday - there was mud! HIGH water today.
Black-bellied Plover - 9
Red-necked Phalarope - 2 - getting late for these
Semipalmated Plover - 1
Pectoral Sandpiper - 1
Lesser Yellowlegs - 1
Western Sandpiper - 5
Least Sandpiper - 4
Killdeer - 12
Wilson's Snipe - 6
Long-billed Dowitcher - 24
Great Egret - 9
Barn Swallow - 8
Virginia Rail - 2
American Coot - 1400+
Am. Wigeon - 600+
also lots of N. Pintail, Mallards and GW Teal.

The valley has been flooded with White-crowned Sparrows and YR Warblers -
they are everywhere!!
