I have foregone some of my usual shorebird addiction/travel to Baja for landbirding in both e and w WA this fall.

It has been an odd fall

Varied T seem to have moved into lowlands early, but on westside juncos and YR Warblers have been quite delayed. I have yet to see a good push of juncos, and YR Warblers seemed to just arrive on westside last weekend in numbers. On the eastside, however, they've been having huge numbers of YR Warblers for a couple weeks.

GC, Lincoln's and Fox Sparrows, though here now in good numbers, also seemed late by a week or so.
Wilson's Warblers... well, where the heck did they go. I saw precious few on either east or westside. My usual Labor Day foray into e WA yields dozens if not hundreds of Wilson's. This year, fewer than 10.

On the other hand, I've seen about as many Warbling Vireos and Yellow Warblers as ever on both sides, highlighted by Charlies 120 Yellows on the coast and my 80 Warbling at Sentinel Bluffs in a couple hours one morning in late August.

We also had a push of Rufous Humms into our yard from late July to early September. Utterly unprecedented for us.

So, overall things seem to be late, except perhaps some montane species, and Wilson's Warblers, which seemed to bypass us nearly entirely.
