Yesterday at about 12 noon I spotted two (non-native, Eurasian) Collared Doves* perched on a power line near the fire house in Dungeness along Dungeness-Sequim Way, or about 0.3 mile south of Three Crabs Restaurant. Six Mourning Doves were also counted nearby perching in ones and twos along a different power line about 1/4 mile from the collared doves.

This is the second pair of collared doves that I've seen north of U.S. Hwy 101 near Sequim in the past month perched on power lines. The other two birds were on a power line along Kitchen Dick Rd. about 0.75 mile north of Hwy. 101. The above Dungeness site is about 3.5 linear miles northeast of the Kitchen Dick Rd. site, and 3 linear miles north of Sequim and Hwy. 101. Although these two sightings are not that far apart, for some reason I suspect they are different birds. Also, both pairs of birds were perched on power lines alongside deciduous trees.
