Dear Tweets,
I was interested in Stewart's raven account for Seward Park and elsewhere in Seattle. A couple of years ago I reported a raven seen from my home in Lake Forest Park, being the first I'd seen there since moving back to the Seattle area in 2002, and I considered it quite a novelty at the time. Since then, and especially this summer, I've noted ravens flying over the house on a fairly regular basis. Those I saw this summer (mostly in late July and early August and perhaps a pair) were flying from northeast to southwest and vice versa--usually noted between 5 and 6 pm. While playing tennis in early August at Shorecrest High School I saw a pair circling the wooded area to the immediate south of the high school. Ravens seem to me to be a stimulating addition to our urban landscape, and certainly a valued distraction to me after having become used to watching several thousand crows flying over our home mornings and evenings as they leave and return to their Kenmore roost.
