Tweeters:

Last night just before dusk I could clearly hear two SWAINSON'S THRUSH calling back and forth. Acknowledging Wayne's note, I think we've all gotten more accustomed to reports into the first half or at least first decade of October, but for us these were the first in 12 years at Tiny's Land (as we call our place out here); our latest until now was Sept 27 (twice). At the same spot on the s. edge of our yard, I flushed two BARRED OWLS also. This morning just as it was getting light, I was surprised to run into a RUFFED GROUSE walking our entry drive, the first in a number of years. Finally, on Wednesday, October 3, there was a W. TANAGER still hanging in there, but I have a feeling the bird will stay a bit longer if recent years are any clue.

Judging from various Tweeters entries, it seems a pretty good fall for lingerers. Among others, I noticed that Phil Kelly's Nisqually report included not just Barn and VG Swallows, but also Cliff and Tree. These latter two seem to always leave well before Barn and VG, and I've seldom found either after Sept. 15.
