We have a huge flock of resident juncos year round here where I live (in
between Fall City and Issaquah at about 700 ft., heavily wooded) -- and they
have bred here extensively the two years we have lived here. We have had a
lot more in the past week or so, based on some of the spectacular aerobatics
I am guessing there is a lot of dominance displaying and sparring going on
as the new birds have turned up.

We also had red breasted nuthatches breed here in the early summer and saw
their fledglings but then they all disappeared. They have returned just in
this past week.

As for chickadees....nothing! They were a big part of our winter flock last
year, both black-capped and chestnut-backed varieties, but I haven't seen or
heard a single one since they left last Spring. Very odd.
