Greetings folks
We have had an increasing number of house finches, red-breasted nuthatches and oregon juncos arriving in our yard over the past week or 10 days.......
Today, in a large incoming flock of ~50 birds (house finches, bc/cb chickadees, juncos, rb nuthatches) , we observed 2 male house finch and a junco hen with avian pox (or something very similar).
We immediately pulled our feeders down........to empty and sanitize them.
Has anyone else observed these issues in the Fall flocks?
We've occasionally seen affected birds (usually house finches) during the summer but this is a "Fall first" observation.
Regards,
Kate K in NE Vancouver, Wa
