It may be of interest to note that a similar, apparently annual
gathering of staging Barn Swallows was found at one
location in Yamhill County, Oregon. Conservative estimates
for birds roosting in (I think) one corn field have ranged as high
as 250,000 in past years, although I don't recall any recent
reports.
