I drove down to southern Washington today, for an early start at Ridgefield tomorrow, and I took a detour through Yacolt to look for the monk parakeets reported there a week or two ago (sorry, I can't recall who posted, it's in my inbox at home, and I'm not there). There are a *lot* of monk parakeets in Yacolt - the most I saw simultaneously was 18, but there were others screeching elsewhere, and it's likely as I wandered around that I saw several different flocks and not the same one multiple times. There are two nests on poles close to the intersection of E Yacolt Rd and Hubbard Ave, another at Yacolt and Cedar, and probably more if I'd spent longer searching.

Looks like another invader that's here to stay....
