Guy, to quote an old boss of mine, You were so right
and I was so wrong. He had a wonderful tone of voice
when he said this.

Ummm, so can I change my mind back again now that I
have been educated?

Thanks Steve for the clarification. To be honest I
have only seen RN Sapsucker in breeding season, so
have no experience with younger birds still growing in
those adult feathers.

Guy, the pictures you chose were right on and chosen
from areas where there could not be any hybrids. I
have seen one hybrid at Wenas campground, it had a lot
more red on the head and no black breast band.

The original pictures were posted yesterday by Sandy
in Enumclaw under the posting ID help-Sapsucker.

I hope she lets us know if the bird sticks around.
