Hi Tweeters,

Just a quick note on the Swan Geese that I posted about earlier. I went back to the area around 5:30 pm and they were in view again. They were feeding near a flock of Canada Geese. Only one of the pair had the knob at the base of its upper mandible and the waddle, so I assume it is a case of sexual dimorphism. I googled the species and found that a number of photos shows a similar morphology. I know that they are escapees, but they are very striking birds. The lawn in question is in the 4900 section of Griffin Peninsula off of Steamboat Island Rd, to the left as you are driving up the peninsula. If anyone is curious enough to check them out, make sure that you pull well off to the shoulder, as room permits; there is a surprising amount of traffic on this road and the cars often go very fast.

Good birding,
