Interested parties,

The Washington Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit
(WACFWRU)--University of Washington, in conjunction with the WDFW, USFWS, and CWS, is
interested in finding volunteers to conduct swan surveys within areas of interest on
subsequent days between November 1 and January 30, 2008. The WACFWRU will
accept any coverage that is offered, from one to five days per week.

Surveys will be conducted between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM each day.
Surveyors will document numbers of swans, marked/collared individuals, and
classify by age and species.
The WACFWRU will provide training as needed, survey forms, and maps.
Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation, as well as binoculars
and/or scopes.

There is currently no funding to offset volunteer mileage costs, but work is
being done at this time to rectify this omission.

If you're up for an enjoyable field experience that contributes to the
ongoing investigation into swan lead-poisoning deaths in Whatcom County and in
lower BC, please email me as soon as you can....November is right around the
corner.

Thanks,
Joe Meche
