Hello,
I am a representative of the University of Illinois Center for Excellence in Airport Technology. We are working with Matt Klope at Whidbey Island Naval Base and Steve Osmek at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Our goal is to use this technology to mitigate the risk posed to pilots, their passengers and the aircrafts. We are currently evaluating bird radar technologies that can track movement in a three mile radius. This is quite exciting for us to be at the point of tracking birds remotely over such a large region both during day and night. By using both radars and weather radar in between, we hope to track birds as they migrate. Currently we have the capacity to watch birds in real-time as well as look at historical information. We are performing a preliminary study this fall which will be expanded in the spring. I hope find volunteers to help us in this effort from October 15 through Novemeber 15. It is easy to do and requires barely more than your regular bi!
rd!
ing and other outdoor activites. Below is the datasheet, which is simple and takes only a few minutes to complete. I can send paper copies and stamped envelopes for anyone interested. If you would like to scan send in digital copies, please feel free to do so. In that we hope to expand the study in the spring we are also interested in your input on how easy this process was for you and aspects of the study to improve. As a public institiution we are happy to share the data aquired by observers as well. Please let us know of your interest at my email woodwrth at uiuc.edu. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely
Beth Woodworth
