sunday, i went on a
scramble to minotaur lake and labyrinth mountain--up by lake
wenatchee--to enjoy the sunshine and fall colors. while the scramble
was disappointing, two birding encounters helped to salvage the day.
not going to do birding, encountering them is an added bonus. first, there was a loud williamson's sapsucker drumming on a tree
continuously in a quiet forest. the other cool sighting were three
bright yellow-headed blackbirds [i think] with a black crown and black
breastband --markings like a varied thrush.

i wonder where other birders have been going to enjoy the fall colors.
