Thirteen of us from Tacoma just returned from a warm sunny
trip to the coast. Seas were flat resulting in good numbers of
loons, grebes and ducks. Surf Scoters being most numerous,
apparently due to high winds the previous few days.

Bowerman Basin: 4 Ruddy Turnstones, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper.
Hoquiam SP: 1 Canvasback, 1 LT Duck.
Damon Pt.: 11 Pacific Golden Plovers, 4 Baird's Sandpipers.
Bottle Beach: 6 Long-Billed Dowitchers, 6 Greater Yellowlegs.
Elk River: 1 Great Egret
Westport Marina: 8 Blk. Turnstones, 4 Surfbirds, no Rock Sand.
Midway Beach: 2 Pectoral Sandpiper, 33 Lapland Longspurs.
Tokeland Marina: Usual Marbled Godwits, 10 Willets, both Dowies.
Adna: 1 White-Tailed Kite. 1 Western Grebe, injured in the ditch
along the road. A most unusual sight, apparently hit by a car
as it flew to or from the river.
