This afternoon, I drove around the Wenzel Slough Road and Brady Loop Road checking for new arrivals. There were several large flocks of Cackling Geese flying eastward up the valley. One flock was on the ground near the intersection of Willis St. and Brady Loop Rd.. It was being harrassed by a Peregrine Falcon which attracted its own competition in a Red-tailed Hawk that was constantly chasing the falcon. Other raptors seen included an adult Bald Eagle and two American Kestrels.

By the private lake south of Vance Creek county park, in the grassy field I found 3 Western Meadowlarks. Pond #1 at the park had 6 Pied-billed Grebes with another single one on the private lake. One lone American Coot was on Pond #2 which lies just west of the restrooms.
