Hi Marc and Tweets,

I am not at all an expert on this but almost all SPAM comes from robots
which search for email addresses. "Robot" is not of the cyborg variety
but actually a term for a type of a computer program that roams the
internet which is how Google find keywords on websites etc. But if you
have an email address on any website, chances are that a robot has found
it and you receive SPAM.

Marc, I ran a google search of your email address and it popped up here
<http://www.google.com/search?q=tweeters%40dartfrogmedia.com&ie=utf-8&oe
=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a> on the
Tweeters archive. If you leave your email address in the body of your
message to Tweeters, it will be posted to the Tweeters archives, which
will be accessible to robots and therefore vulnerable to SPAM.

WHAT TO DO: I would avoid posting your email address like
adams at seattleaudubon.org (don't worry, my email address is already on
several websites and we have pretty heavy spam filters here) but rather
like "adams AT seattleaudubon DOT org", as Marc has done below. I
believe this helps.

I use a unique email address to send and receive Tweeters posts. In the
last month I've been receiving several spam messages per day at that
address. Might it be the member list privacy has been breached? It's
also possible that a virus on a list member's computer snagged my
address. Just wondering if others on the list are noticing this.
