Subject: [Tweeters] Barred Owls at Arboretum

Like many people who frequent the arboretum, I've been aware of the resident
Barred Owls for some time. As I understand it, there is a pair, and two
owlets were born this year. Isn't it possible that this grayish one was a
fledgling this summer? In Sibley, fledglings appear much paler/grayer than
adults.

I lead tours at the arboretum, and the owls always appear relaxed when we
encounter and observe them, even at fairly close range and in large groups.

You all should bird at the arboretum more often!
