Today I went to see the J.J. Audubon exhibit at MOHAI. I am always interested in seeing his oil and watercolor paintings up close. One of his featured paintings is the one of the Black Vultures. The original prints are worth seeing as well, that they were hand colored makes them very vibrant. I particularly like the one of the Raven.

Of course then I rushed over to the Arboretum to look for the Barred Owl. It was a bit stormy. I listened for Steller's Jays making a fuss and indeed found a group of about 12. They acted like they were mobbing something but I could never see what it was. The trees were very thick here, close to the Winter Garden section.

I found lots of ducks sheltering, on my way to Foster Island. One group of 13 Wood Ducks lined up side by side on a log would have made a great photo!
