Greetings All,

I thought Kathy's idea of reflecting on how I have benefited personally because of the Sullivan's generousity was worth a trip through my own life list.

I'm not sure that Patrick and Ruth found all of these, but their enthusiasm and constant encouragement got me off the couch to go look:

A Barnacle Goose at Brady Loop early this year, probably first sighted by Tim O'Brien,
the Ross's Goose that showed up at Nisqually back in '03,
the Tufted Duck at Hoquiam STP,
a Yellow Throated Loon in Anacortes,
the Manx Shearwater off the Ocean Shores jetty,
a Red Shouldered Hawk at Brady Loop,
three Snowy Plovers at Damon Point in '01,
a Wandering Tattler, also at the Jetty,
a Baird's Sandpiper ALSO at the Jetty,
and a Surfbird there too,
a Whimbrel at Midway Beach,
the Temminck's Stint at the Ocean Shores STP,
the Red Phalarope that blew into the Hoquiam STP in '02,
The Slaty Backed Gull in Renton (I can't remember who found that one, but Patrick was there to point it out to me)
a Black Legged Kittiwake,
my first Common Murre,

OK, you get the idea! I didn't even get into the passerines!

I am not intending to take away anything from the excellent birders who first spotted some of the rarities listed above, I just wanted to make the point that we are all interconnected, and that the Sullivans provided a lot of the glue.

Get well soon, Ruth!

-Rolan
