Since I have already detailed many of my experiences
that centered on Patrick, I wanted to aim some further
comments toward Ruth. While you are in convalescence
Ruth, I hope that I can bring you a bit of cheer and
recognition that you well deserve.

After two previous trips and dips to the outer coast
(a good eight hour drive from Spokane), my desire to
see the highly erratic Black-tailed Gull had grown
into a full blown obsession. After pleading with the
Sullivans for advice, Ruth personally sent me a
detailed prediction (weather conditions, tides, etc.)
for the weekend possibilities. She noted that "the
Gull" had been seen at various times in the past at
virtually any time of the day other than the peak of
high tide. Following Ruth's advice, I was indeed
successful in seeing this highly desirable lifer.

Of course, Ruth's photography is another wonder to
behold. Ruth has numerous excellent bird photos that
have been intensely studied and enjoyed by the birding
community.

On a personal note, Ruth has been highly supportive of
me, and has provided me with good advice after my
divorce. She has boosted my spirits on numerous
occasions, and she is simply a fun, talented,
vivacious lady.

I just have to say, I love you Ruth!
