Greetings Tweets!
Jeff Cohen and I went out to the Westport/Toekland
area yesterday hoping for some rarities blown in by
the storms. No such luck, but we had a good day.

Bottle Beach at near high tide - Thousands of ducks!
Mostly N Pintail, Am Wigeon, and GW Teal. we spotted
at least 5 Eurasian Wigeon males in the flock before a
pair of dogs spooked the whole flock. A few BB
Plover, Dunlin, and a Whimbrel were all the shorebirds
we saw.

Midway Beach - the 'pond' was up in the weeds and over
the road! Good looks at a bathing Peregrine Falcon.
Dunlin, Least Sandpiper, Horned Grebe, N Pintails.
Flock of Canada and Cackling Geese.

Tokeland - The usual mod of Marbled Godwits, did NOT
see a Bar-tailed. Usual Willets and both Dowitcher
species (I think!). Lots of WW Scoter, Co Loon, and a
few Pacific Loons in the bay.

Westport - MASSIVE waves coming over the bar. Few
alcids, lots of loons on the bay. Highlight was about
20 Black Turnstones and 4 Rock Sandpiper on the Jetty.

We spent the morning dodging rain squalls, but the
afternoon was surprisingly nice! Had enough sunshine
to get a little sunburn! But I hear that it rained
all day in Ocean Shores! Was much nicer just a few
miles south!

It was a good Day!
