Dear Tweeters,

I could not tell for sure if it was a Sharpie or a
Cooper's, but there was a beautiful adult Accipter,
color banded, near Burlington on Saturday, 10-20-07.

This bird was at a cattail pond in the Burlington
Industrial Park, or whatever it is called, just N of
Burlington Hill. I call this site "Gear Road Pond." It
used to be a wetland area by a farm along Gear Road,
reached by crossing the RR tracks and driving due east
toward a stonemasonry. This site used to be a real
shorebird spot, but is only a sad remnant now.

Anyway, the bird had a blue color band on the left leg
and an aluminum band on the right. I think the bird
was a male Cooper's, but am not a hundred percent
sure. It perched atop a brushpile for ten minutes,
then flew to the top of a delivery van. It perched on
the van for five minutes, then flew off.

Perhaps someone in Tweeterland knows of an Accipiter
banding operation somewhere?
