Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 25. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On October 22 a CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR was on the North Spit of Coos
Bay. Another was on Clatsop Beach the same day. A MANX SHEARWATER was seen
October 19 off Boiler Bay. On October 18 a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was near
Sisters.

RED CROSSBILLS and PINE SISKINS are now increasing in the Coast Range and
Cascade Mountains. Several PALM WARBLERS were seen along the coast during
the week.

On October 18 an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was in North Bend. Sea watches along
the Lane County Coast October 19 found over 500 PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATERS,
about 4000 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS, and six RED PHALAROPES. A TROPICAL KINGBIRD
was seen October 20 near Newport. A SNOW BUNTING was at the South Jetty of
the Columbia River October 19.

The first TUNDRA SWANS arrived October 24 at Ridgefield NWR. A SNOW BUNTING
was near the Portland Airport October 22. On October 23 three CASSIN?S
FINCHES were on Larch Mountain east of Portland. On October 24 two CLARK?S
GREBES were at the Fernhill Wetlands. Up to 118 SURF SCOTERS were seen at
Hagg Lake south of Forest Grove during the week. A MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was
near Creswell October 22. One was in Glide October 18.

On October 22 a CASSIN?S FINCH and a probable COMMON REDPOLL were in the
Hood River Valley. Two COMMON LOONS and one PACIFIC LOON were at Haystack
Reservoir near Madras on October 23. On October 19 a BLACK SCOTER was at the
Prineville Sewage Ponds. A SURF SCOTER was there October 22. Two SURF
SCOTERS were at Hatfield Lake near Bend October 20. On October 22 a BEWICK?S
WREN was at Summer Lake.
