Hello all,
Today we again birded the west end of Walla Walla County and found some
interesting birds:

Greater White-fronted Geese - 10 on Casey pond
Snow Goose - 1 injured bird hiding in the reeds on the Walla Walla River
delta with several hunters walking by and not discovering it! And 3 young
above Ice Harbor Dam.
Cackling Geese - 200 at McNary NWR and a few more on Casey pond with many
Canada Geese - many large flocks of geese flying around late afternoon in
the Burbank/McNary area.
Tundra Swan - 7 birds on Casey pond - our first of the fall
Common Goldeneye - 8 off Burbank in the Snake river - first of fall
Common Merganser - 16 below Ice Harbor dam
PACIFIC LOON - 1 bird working its way up the Snake river right past us at
Hood Park while we were eating lunch - county year bird #245!
Common Loon - 3 around Port Kelly and another off Hood Park
Western Grebes - over 100 in the delta area and another 90+ above Ice Harbor
dam
Great Egret - 2 at the delta and another on Casey pond
Bald Eagle - 1 adult at the delta
Rough-legged Hawk - 1 on Byrnes road - first of fall for us
Prairie Falcon - 1 off Hwy 12 between Touchet and Lowden
Spotted Sandpiper - 1 bird still working the overflows at Ice Harbor Dam
Least Sandpiper - 7 birds at Wallula jct. overlook pond
Long-billed Dowitcher - 29 at overlook and 1 on delta
Barn Swallow - 1 over Wallula grain terminal
Varied Thrush - 3 in Hood Park
Spotted Towhee - 1 in Hood Park
