Also saw what I believe was a tropical kingbird at the Fill on Friday Oct. 26. It was shortly before I ran into Connie S. The bird was flying from the willow thicket to the huge cottonwoods in the SE part of the Fill. Did not hear any vocalizations, but did get a good look at the under parts of the bird and they were very pale, much lighter than any western kingbird I have ever seen.

Hope everyone has a chance to get a look at the bird. Good hunting!

Another possible vagrant species was a pair of thrush-like birds that I had only partial views of in the swampy woods in the North-central most part of the Fill. The one view I had of the bird's face, it appeared to have a stripe on its cheek. In Sibley's, it looked like possibly one of the water-thrushes... possibly a northern Waterthrush. Again, however, I had very poor visibility and no 2nd chance to get a good look. The 2 birds were very quiet, foraging on the ground and never flying very high into the trees. Saw one perch about 2 feet off the ground at the highest, as it sat there watching me through dense low-hanging branches.

We also observed some odd Great Blue Heron behavior where 2 adult birds approached each other in hunch back postures, with bills raised at an angle and wings hanging down. The birds got within a few meters of each other, then parted ways without any chasing or vocalizing (that we could hear).
