The Swainson's will often respond to the quick, high,
upward-inflected whistle that is one of their calls. Although I don't
hear them doing the upward-spiralling "metallic" call, I have been
hearing this brief whistle as recently as today. So if you can
imitate it, you might try it with the mystery bird if it's still around.
