Hello All,

This afternoon at 3:50 PM while birding the WWRdelta for the second time
today we located a sub-adult BROWN PELICAN perched out on a large root wad
just to the north of the Walla Walla River delta. After about ten min. this
bird lifted off and flew right over our heads several times as it caught a
thermal and was soon 1500 feet up into the blue sky. We watched it slowly
drift to the north so it could be on any body of water here in the Columbia
Basin. Keep an eye out for it. We would like to hear if it is seen again and
where. This is a first Walla Walla County record, but not the first sighting
in the Lower Columbia Basin. What a fun bird to see. I took a good number of
photos that will help document this inland record.
