Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 6. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On the August 26 offshore boat trip out of Coos Bay a probable GREAT-WINGED
PETREL was reported. On September 2 a LONG-TOED STINT was on the Bayocean
Shorebird Flats at Tillamook Bay. A WHITE-WINGED DOVE is now being seen in
Bandon. To see the bird call Terrie Loomis at 541-347-3969. On August 30 a
LAUGHING GULL was in Seaside. A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was reported September 1
in Oregon City. A BAY-BREASSTED WARBLER was seen September 3 in Seaside. On
September 1 a NORTHERN PARULA was at Hatfield Lake near Bend. A MAGNOLIA or
CANADA WARBLER was calling in Eugene September 4. The next day a TENNESSEE
WARBLER was in Eugene. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Smith/Bybee Lakes in
North Portland September 5.

On September 3 a RUFF and 11 BUFF-BEASTED SANDPIPERS were on the North Spit
of Coos Bay. A LARK SPARROW was there the next day. Six BUFF-BREASTED
SANDPIPERS were at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River August 31. On
September 3, 30 ELEGANT TERNS were there. That day an adult LONG-TAILED
JAEGER was at Tierra Del Mar.

On September 1 a flock of SNOW GEESE flew over Vancouver. On September 5 a
FRANKLIN?S GULL and 141 GREAT EGRETS were at Smith/Bybee Lakes. Over 3000
VAUX?S SWIFTS are now being seen at Chapman School in northwest Portland. On
August 31 a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW was on the east slopes of Mt. Hood. A
flock of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE was over Philomath August 31. On September 2 a
RUFF, two BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, and three MARBLED GODWITS were at Fern
Ridge Reservoir. Twenty COMMON TERNS were there the next day.

Several hundred WHITE PELICANS are now at Wickiup Reservoir, south of Bend,
along with many WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. On August 24 a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was
at Malheur NWR. Recently seven GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES have been seen at
Tulelake, CA.
