Hello all,
We birded the delta yesterday morning for a couple hours and again this
morning for five hours and enjoyed the view and the beautiful birds. Here
is our list of highlights for the two days excluding all the common ducks
which were abundant - even 32 Ruddy Ducks:
Great Egret - 4 birds
Osprey - 3
Virginia Rail - 6
Sora - 2
Killdeer - 12
Greater Yellowlegs - 6
Lesser Yellowlegs - 2
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
MARBLED GODWIT - 1
SANDERLING - 3
Western Sandpiper - 50
Least Sandpiper - 2
Baird's Sandpiper - 2 birds on Dodd rd. blood pond
Long-billed Dowitcher - 2
Wilson's Snipe - 7
Red-necked Phalarope - 1
FRANKLIN'S GULL - 1
Bonaparte's Gull - 2
Herring Gull - 2
Glaucous-winged Gull - 1
Lots of Ring-billed and some California Gulls
SABINE'S GULL - 2 birds - both subadult - year bird for county
Caspian Tern - 2
Common Tern - 7
Forster's Tern - 17
Vaux's Swifts - 9
Barn Swallows - 50+
House Wren - 2
Townsend's Solitaire - 1
American Pipit - 1 bird on Dodd road on the 8th
Orange-crowned Warbler - 2
Nashville Warbler - 1 bright male
Yellow Warbler - 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler - many
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT - 1 female - county year bird for us
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW - 1 bird
Lincoln's Sparrow - 1
White-crowned Sparrows - many
Dark-eyed Junco - 4
