Today, I took a hike up at Sunrise on Mt. Rainier to hopefully see some mountain birds. I hiked up the Frozen Lake trail and then onto the first Burroughs Mountain and then came back down along the Burroughs Rim trail. This was my first exploration of the area and next time I'll carry two bottles of water instead of one! Snow fields were very limited and I scanned all that I could get a scope on. I ended up with 23 species of birds for the hike and the drive up and down. Here's the complete list:

Northern Harrier
Cooper's Hawk - 2 soaring high
Red-tailed Hawk
Clark's Nutcracker - seemed to be everywhere
Steller's Jay
Gray Jay - only saw two on the drive down
Common Raven
Horned Lark
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Mountain Chickadee
Chestnut-backed Chickadee
American Robin
Varied Thrush
American Pipit
Orange-crowned Warbler - one with other warblers
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Townsend's Warbler
Chipping Sparrow
Fox Sparrow - one jumped out on the trail for me
White-crowned Sparrow
Dark-eyed Junco

Good birding,
