this is a link to the image of an unusual bird that a
reader has shared with all of my blog readers; a
"white" American robin;

I am going to speculate here, but I think that this
bird is pale cream colored in all the places where it
would be brown or black because it has a
melanin-producing gene that has been deactivated.
However, carotenoids are being added to growing
feathers as normal, thus, the bird's breast is still
the typical reddish color. What do you think?
