Yesterday I visited Edmonds and walked up to where Shell Creek enters the sound. This is north of the Ferry Terminal. It is a very good Gull spot, a nice spot with few people. Large numbers of Glaucous-winged Gulls, California Gulls and my favorite Heermann's Gulls. I found 8 Killdeers and 4 Peeps, which I didn't get a good look at. Canada Geese, Mallards and American Wigeons were mixed with the Gulls. Nice to have these birds all to myself!

One interesting sighting at the Edmonds Marsh. A train rumbling through stirred up a big cloud of Barn Swallows, House Finches and American Goldfinches. A Merlin swooped through this flock. I wonder if it was waiting for the train to do just that. These birds had been lined up on the wires along the tracks.
