This afternoon at the River "S" unit the birding was interesting.
There was over 160 Great Egrets on Rest lake ,
Then around 3:30 a mixed flock of Least and Western Sandpipers and at
least 3 Dunlin flew in to land on the
North end of rest lake to join the ca.50 Long-billed Dowitchers and
the 17 Greater Yellowlegs and 3 Lesser Yellowlegs that were all ready
there. All in all a nice afternoon of Birding. Also over South Big
lake there was at least 3000 Barn swallows in action. a very low
estimate of the number.
