I birded the farm town of Tekoa in Whitman County this morning in between
things at school. I found some really nice birds, including 4 county
lifers. I had good activity along the creek in places, but had the most
success at the south end of town along Line Street, where bird activity was
quite high. Highlights are below.

WOOD DUCK - 2 (county lifer)
Gray Partridge - 5
MERLIN - 1 (county lifer) swooped through low and then soared off
RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER - adult male (county lifer, code 5 surprisingly)
Violet-green Swallow - 15
Barn Swallow - 55
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 8
Bewick's Wren - 1
House Wren - 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1
Orange-crowned Warbler - 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 3
MacGillivray's Warbler - 1
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT - 2 along the creek
Wilson's Warbler - 1
Western Tanager - 3
Chipping Sparrow - 7
BREWER'S SPARROW - 1
Savanna Sparrow - 5
Lincoln's Sparrow - 16; excellent habitat all along the creek; my highest
count ever, and surely many more
White-crowned Sparrow - 45
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW - 1 juvenile (county lifer)
Dark-eyed Junco - 2
