Thanks, Isadora!

I spent many wonderful summers in High Island (and CHristmases as well)
before I moved to WA. My family has had a beach house there for a long time
(it's only about 1/2 mile from to beach), and springtime was always fun, as
birders came from EVERYWHERE. It was nothing to stand at the kitchen sink
drinking coffee and see people in the backyard following humming birds, etc.
and our small streets lined with the cars of excited birders. :O)

My mother and I were stunned the morning after the storm, when we watched
the news and saw the damage. Luckily our friends who live there are all
safe, but we all share the worry about the wooded areas, as they took a
TREMENDOUS hit. That particular geographic spot (High Island) has a LOT of
tornado activity, and this time was no different. The sights are
heartbreaking.
