Tweets,

Sorry for the late report, but I was off to the WOS Conference on Thursday
after I finished walking Nisqually...and the walk took longer than I had wanted
it to. Darn birds!

13 of us enjoyed a fairly birdy walk under pleasant conditions. Fall
migration was in full swing!

Highlights included a couple of mixed flocks of migrating warblers and some
VAUX'S SWIFTS over the refuge. Waterfowl numbers are way down as are
shorebirds near McAllister Creek as the interior of the refuge dries up.

We found a couple of flocks of passerines that included YELLOW, ORANGE
CROWNED, YELLOW RUMPED, and WILSON'S WARBLERS, as well as CASSIN'S VIREO and
BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE. We also saw HUTTON'S and WARBLING VIREO as well as
BUSHTIT and WILLOW FLYCATCHER.

We also saw our first KINGLETS of the season. Both WHITE-CROWNED and
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS were present as well as an accommodating LINCOLN'S SPARROW.

All told we had 47 species for the day with VAUX'S SWIFT and CASSIN'S VIREO
being new for the year.

As for the WOS Conference.... Well, I'll let others fill in the details on
that. Check WOS.org in a few days to see the checklist of birds seen. I had
134 species in 4 days with a couple of life birds. All in all, a great
conference. Thanks to all who put it on.
