Subject: [Tweeters] bird stuff and peanuts... :O)

I've been feeding my silly single Jay peanuts for probably 4-5 years (for some reason, until this year, I never had more than one Jay). I go to COstco and buy the unsalted ones. I think they're less expensive than the ones at WB (sorry, WB). My chipmunk, squirrel and Jay love them. This year, I've been thrilled to have TWO and three squirrels and Jays!!!!!

I'm happy to report (though some may not be thrilled) that my mourning dove "regulars" have grown to roughly eight, and I have had a band tailed pigeon eating a wild bird mix from the ground around my porch two times this week.

There are abundant woodpeckers in my yard. THis morning, I counted five hairy woodpeckers, and a pair of downeys. I have a Pileated that's been coming to/fro on a regular basis, and two sets of flickers! Yeah!

Subject: [Tweeters] Leguminous Help Needed

Help! After a week of wonderfully frenetic Steller's Jay (and occasional crow) activity at peanut feeder, I find myself un-peanuttiest, out of stock, nuttered.

My last batch was acquired at Wild Birds, a ways away and at best not accessible before weekend. Can I substitute unsalted-in-shell from grocery? Would they be ideally raw or roasted?

Calling on my Nut Buddies!
