Hello Tweeters,

Bunny and I were joined by Dave Chelimer on the drive to the
Monroe Elementary School Wednesday evening (9/19). We left Seattle at 6 and
were at the school at 7, following Rob Sandelin?s instructions from 9/12.
The views of the square chimney from behind the school (north side) were
great. When we arrived, there was a mature accipiter (probably a Coopers)
sitting on the edge of the chimney top. After a couple of minutes
(including some scope views) it flew off with a huge escort of swifts. In
another 10 minutes it was back for another minute or two before being
escorted away again. We never saw it definitely take a swift.

The huge swift funnels entering the chimney started about 7 and
lasted until nearly 7:30. What an incredible show! You?ll all be amazed to
know that I have no accurate count of the actual number of the thousands of
swifts.
