Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 20. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.

A LAWRENCE?S GOLDFINCH is now coming to a feeder in Winston. To see this
bird call Spencer Platt at 541-679-3270. On September 17 a KENTUCKY WARBLER
was seen at Emigrant Lake east of Ashland. It could not be relocated. A
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was in Shevelin Park in Bend September 15.

Malheur NWR was very good during the week with CAPE MAY WARBLER and a
REDSTART at Benson Pond September 15, a possible MOURNING WARBLER there the
day before. An EASTERN PHOEBE was at Headquarters September 15. A BLACKPOLL
WARBLER was at Fields September 16.

An offshore boat trip out of Ilwaco September 15 located a possible
BLACK-VENTED SHEARWATER, a FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER, and over 20 LONG-TAILED
JAEGERS, all in Oregon waters.

Heavy migrations during the week included a movement of SABINE?S GULLS. They
were reported from Corvallis, Emigrant Lake, Haystack Reservoir near Madras,
and six at Agency Lake in the Klamath Basin. Swallows are still in good
numbers with 5000 Barns and 3000 Violet-greens at Brownsmead, 3000 Barns at
Ridgefield NWR, and 550,000 Barns at Grand Island south of Dayton.

On September 17 a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and two PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS
were at New River. On September 16 an early EURASIAN WIGEON, a PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER, and a DUNLIN were at the North Spit of Coos Bay. A
MOCKINGBIRD was at the Nehalem Sewage Ponds September 18. A WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW was in Astoria September 18. On September 13 a COMMON TERN was at
the Philomath Sewage Ponds. A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and a SNOWY EGRET are
now at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

That?s it for this week.
